Police seeking public assistance to identify victim of fatal accident

Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a man who died in a traffic accident along the Princess Alice Highway, St Michael, around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The victim is a 66-year-old pedestrian of no fixed place of abode, who is known to frequent the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex, near where the accident occurred.

According to police, the pedestrian was crossing the road, while the van, which was driven by an unnamed 42-year-old man from Newcastle, St John, was heading towards The City when they collided.

The ambulance personnel found no sign of life when they arrived and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may know the victim to contact Central Police Station at 4307227, Police Emergency 211 or any police station.
