DEM steps up public outreach on disaster preparedness with expo at St. Ann’s Fort

The Department of Emergency Management is ramping up efforts to raise public awareness about disaster preparedness and risk reduction.

DEM and Sagicor General jointly hosted an Open Day and Expo today at the Barbados Defense Force’s St. Ann’s Fort Base.

Emergency personnel from the Barbados Police Service, Fire Service, and other agencies were on hand to engage with the public and demonstrate key aspects of their response efforts.

Addressing students from both primary and secondary schools, DEM Director Kerry Hinds stressed the importance of each agency’s role in managing emergencies during disasters.
