CXC impasse

A standoff could be developing between the Barbados Ministry of Education and the Caribbean Examinations Council which is based here, over exam results that are being disputed by scores of Barbadian students and parents.

There has been a flood of complaints about the recently-released grades and there’s a petition demanding a review.

The large volume of complaints prompted  Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw to demand the CXC carry out an urgent investigation into the exam results.

But the CXC’s Registrar and chief executive officer Dr. Wayne Wesley appears to have rejected that request for an urgent probe.

He tells Starcom Network News the CXC is confident the grading process was done accurately and there will be no investigation. He says the regular review process will be followed and furthermore no fees will be waived.
