The Barbados Police Service has arrested and charged a third individual in connection with the recent island-wide seizure of guns and ammunition.
Twenty-five-year-old Elijah Akeem Copeland, of Chase Gap, Halls Road, St. Michael, was remanded to Dodds Prison after appearing this morning before Magistrate Manilla Renee in the District “A” Court.
Copeland faces several charges, including possession of an illegal firearm, ten rounds of ammunition, two counts of unlawful possession of cannabis, trafficking in a controlled drug, and possession of cannabis. He pleaded guilty to the drug possession charges but was not required to plead to the indictable offences.
Copeland is scheduled to return to court on August 5th to answer the summary charges.
The Barbados Police Service has recently intensified operations across the island, resulting in the seizure of nine firearms over the past week. Several individuals have been charged between Tuesday and yesterday, with Copeland now becoming the third person to appear before the court in connection with these investigations.
