Government Minister, Wilfred Abrahams was the main witness to testify on day two in the rape trial of fellow Member of Parliament Neil Rowe in the Supreme Court this morning.
Minister Abrahams confirmed that the complainant is a member of his Christ Church East Branch, and she came by his house to collect two tickets to an event in St. George, the night prior to the alleged incident.
It was there that Mr. Abrahams again saw the complainant, Neil Rowe and another witness who brought the complainant to the party.
Mr. Abrahams said that they all took a bathroom break and even had to assist the complainant who he said “stumbled” out of the bathroom.
He confirmed he left the party around 2 a.m. but heard the complainant later by phone when she told him: “Neil has sexually assaulted me.” The Government Minister said he asked: “who Neil?” and she replied “Neil Rowe.”
Mr. Abrahams also acted as a character witness for the complainant saying she was someone with political aspirations and very organized.
In a very short cross-examination by Michael Lashley, KC, the defense established that the Minister didn’t report to the police that the complainant had earlier stumbled out of the bathroom at the event and also that the Minister had a friendly relationship with the complainant.
Two other witnesses took the stand – the complainant’s “best friend” who spoke highly of her character and the gentleman who brought her to the event confirmed that she told him, she had secured a ride back home.
The trial resumes on Monday April 14th at 9:30 A.M.
