BSTU on Removal of Mask Mandate: Not the Right Time

President of the Barbados Secondary Teachers Union Mary Ann Redman says they are not in favour of the decision to remove the mask mandate from schools.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness announced the end of the COVID-19 Emergency Management Order and its attendant Directives yesterday noting that it no longer a legal requirement to wear a mask in any of the places identified under the order such as medical facilities, schools and public transport.

In making her case against the latest directive, she feels the timing is not right for Barbados

The BSTU boss also argued some schools abroad had been forced to re-impose the mask mandate. She believes Barbados should be wary about following global trends.
