Two passengers on the Celebrity Millennium, the first cruise ship sailing out of North America since the coronavirus pandemic, have tested positive on the return trip home.
Barbados was the first stop on the vessel’s seven-day cruise but officials here pointed out that the positive tests came from end of cruise tests enroute back to St Maarten.
They also noted that the cruise ship visited three countries since it left Barbados four days ago.
The Royal Caribbean Group said in a news release that
the two guests, who were sharing a stateroom, are asymptomatic and currently in isolation.
A statement said quote :
“Today, two guests sharing a stateroom onboard Celebrity Millennium tested positive for COVID-19 while conducting the required end-of-cruise testing. The individuals are asymptomatic and currently in isolation and being monitored by our medical team. We are conducting contact tracing, expediting testing for all close contacts and closely monitoring the situation”.
