Retailers joint bid for Sunday opening

This country’s petrol dealers plan to join with supermarkets and other retailers as they continue to seek permission to open their automarts on Sundays.

Attorney General Dale Marshall this week turned down a request from the dealers, arguing that with supermarkets closed on Sundays there might be too much of a rush at automarts if they were open.

But spokesman for the dealers, Aldo Ho Kong King, tells Starcom Network News, that’s exactly why it makes sense to allow all food retailers to open on Sundays.

He says the petrol dealers will be speaking to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry about making a case on behalf of all food retailers.
