Cherry responds to quarry criticism

A local recycling manager has responded to allegations by the Democratic Labour Party by-election candidate, Floyd Reifer, that his quarry at Lower Estate St. George is making residents sick.

In an interview with Starcom Network News, Anderson Cherry, managing director of Jose and Jose Group said Floyd Reifer wants to use him as a ‘political football’ but he is not having it.

In a video circulating on social media today, Reifer and residents talk about the impact of the quarry on their health and that he will not rest until it is closed and vows to start a petition.

Cherry has invited Reifer to meet him tomorrow to see and discuss solutions to what he is calling a problem.

Meantime, Health Minister Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic says he will be meeting with the affected residents shortly and has promised the issue will be dealt with.

He disclosed that he’s chairing a ministerial subcommittee that’s handling the matter.
