Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has promised Government will work with the owners to restore a historic building gutted by fire at Speightstown, St. Peter yesterday.
Three businesses were housed in the structure that’s said to be about 300 hundred years old.
Miss Mottley during an unscheduled visit to the area today, described the building as being part of the heritage of the area.
Meantime, the business owners and employees affected by yesterday’s fire were today pondering their next steps.
The building is owned by real estate developer Bjorn Bjerkham whose daughter Monique Archer, operated a business, Archer’s Hall Design Centre, out of the facility employing six staff.
A restaurant and a bar were also located there.
She tells Starcom Network News the fire started in the kitchen of Juman’s Restaurant.
Mrs. Archer, prior to the Prime Minister’s visit, had expressed a desire to try to save the building because of its historic value.
