The Barbados Secondary Teachers Union (BSTU) has this week written the ministry of education requesting a meeting to discuss the transfer or effective demotion of a number of teachers that BSTU President Mary-Ann Redman describes as punitive, unorthodox and unfair.

Miss Redman says the issue isn’t just what was done but how it was done as in only one case were the teachers given written notification of the reassignments.

But on the other hand, Ms. Redman expressed satisfaction with the steps taken to address the physical state and environmental conditions at schools especially CombermereSchool that had been the constant subject of controversy in the past.
