A teenage boy has died after plunging into 100 feet deep well at the Pine, St. Michael.

Seventeen-year-old Kyrique Boyce of number 13 Regent Hill was pronounced dead at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being pulled from the well at Martins Road about 1 30 PM.

This followed an hour-long rescue operation by personnel from the police, fire and ambulance services.

Donisha Dottin a friend of the deceased says Kyrique, who lived a short distance away from the scene of the incident was passing through that location when he stepped on the cover of the well which collapsed under his weight.

Ms. Dottin and another resident Kathy-Anne Best voiced concern about the state of the wells on the National Housing Corporation estate.

The residents praised the emergency services for their rescue effort.

Minister in the ministry of housing and lands, Charles Griffith toured the area this afternoon.
