The Accident and Emergency Department reports increased demand on its services due to a spate of gun violence

With the increase of gun violence in Barbados, Director of Medical Services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Anthony Harris, said that department has been coping as best as it can.

Speaking this morning following the QEH’s Internship welcome ceremony, Mr. Harris said that a lot of emphasis has been placed on the deaths of people with gunshot wounds but the people who do survive are given adequate care.

He also said that it is too early to determine how well the 24-hour service at the Winston Scott Polyclinic is working but believes that it will ultimately help ease the strain on the Accident and Emergency Department of QEH.
