Minister of the Environment and National Beautification, Trevor Prescod, has promised the parents and teachers at the Blackman and Gollop Primary School that the cow-itch problem that forced the temporary closure of the school will be cleaned up this weekend.

And he also asserts that the owners of the land adjacent to the school will get a bill from government for the cost of the clean-up and will be taken to court if they refuse to play.

Mr. Prescod was speaking as the House of Assembly, prior to the expected commencement of the estimates debate, debated a request for an additional 282 thousand dollars for his ministry in the current financial year to cover, among other things, the cost of the clean-up of sargassum seaweed on the island’s beaches.

He said some of the money might have to be used for cow-itch clean-up.

Mr. Prescod also stressed that the owners of the estate will be made to reimburse government.
