Sickout at QEH

Sickout at QEH

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has been hit by a sickout.

Starcom Network News has learned that nurses, paramedics, and some other staff on the morning shift failed to turn up for work in protest over what they claim is non-payment of a promised Covid-19 hazard allowance.

In a statement on the matter, QEH Chief Executive Officer Neil Clark confirmed the staff absences and said the hospital’s management was working to ensure there was no interruption of service.

Mr. Clark promised that any delayed payments would be expedited.

The QEH also insists that the action was not sanctioned by the National Union of Public Workers which it says represents the overwhelming majority of QEH workers.
