Social media claims of conference incident “a fabrication” say BLP MPs.

Barbados Labour Party MPs reject as a fabrication social media claims about the circumstances in which a colleague was injured at last weekend’s BLP annual conference.

Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne drew rebukes from the government side when during his contribution to the debate on the Maritime Shipping Bill, he referred to a government MP being injured at last weekend’s Barbados Labour Party Annual Conference.

A viral whatsapp message and other posts on social media referred to an alleged incident but when asked about the matter BLP sources told Starcom Network News that the information being shared on social media was quote, “nonsense and a fabrication”, unquote.

They pointed out that during Prime Minister Mottley’s presentation a photographer’s light fell and struck MP for St. Andrew Rommel Springer on the head and that he was attended to at the location.

Deputy Prime Minister and leader of government business in the House Santia Bradshaw also sought to set the record straight while responding to Mr. Thorne in the House of Assembly.
