B’dos/China sign agreement for $76M stadium

Government has signed an implementation agreement with the People’s Republic of China to begin phase 1 of the Barbados National Stadium re Development Project.

The first phase will be the demolition of the current structure and construction of a stadium with a seating capacity for 10 thousand patrons at a cost of 76.6 million Barbados dollars.

Sports Minister Charles Griffith notes that no date to begin construction has been given since phase 1 is expected to undergo a tendering process in China.

Counselor Jian Le stressed that the first phase is expected to be completed within 29 months
