BWU Takes Issue with BHTA Pay Hike Announcement

The Barbados Workers Union insists there is no agreement on a pay hike for hotel workers as announced by the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association.

Chairman of the BHTA, Renee Coppin, stated at the association’s general meeting today that workers in the hotel sector are to get a ten percent pay hike over three years.

She said it’s a cumulative increase that covers periods dating back to 2021.

But the Barbados Workers Union’s Deputy General Secretary and Director of Industrial Relations, Dwayne Paul, is surprised at the announcement.

He insists there are still outstanding matters in negotiations between the BHTA and the BWU.
