Make Public Transport Free, Urges Senator

An independent Senator is urging government to make public transportation free to commuters as part of a radical solution to what he complains is major congestion on this country’s roads that he expects to get even worse.

Realtor Senator Andrew Mallalieu predicts continued economic take-off over the next two to three years, including what he believes could be, this year, one of the biggest tourism seasons ever.

Senator Mallallieu was speaking at debate on the appropriations bill continued in the Senate.

He expects the economic boom will only worsen the gridlock which he thinks is hurting productivity.

Senator Mallallieu made mention of the congestion caused by the reported closure of Broad Street today to facilitate the laying of gas pipes but also praised the government for the road repairs which he believes is easing the wear and tear on vehicles.

But, according to Senator Mallallieu, that just means sitting in traffic on a smooth road.

He thinks it’s time for a radical solution.
