Ministry of Education Denounces Gender Neutral Bathroom Claims

The Ministry of Education denies that there are gender neutral bathrooms at any schools in Barbados, contrary to concerns raised by a spokesperson for the Democratic Labour Party and carried by these stations.

A statement from the Ministry says that in response to that report and the disquiet it caused, Minister of Education, Kay McConney and Deputy Chief Education Officer, Joy Adamson visited the school identified in the report, St. Philip’s Primary School, and met with Principal, Pamelatta Bhamjee.

Minister of Education, Kay McConney, denounced the claims.

Meantime, Principal of St. Philip Primary, Pamelatta Bhamjee, said that while the school has new signs donated by the European Union, there has been no change in policy and the male and female students have separate bathrooms.
