US Currency Shortage in Guyana

Guyana has a US currency shortage.

And, it has led to a row between the country’s Central Bank and the business sector.

The Bank of Guyana, in a statement, accuses the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce of trying to blame it for the current US currency shortage.

The Guyana Central Bank insists it’s not responsible for ensuring members of the Chamber have foreign exchange whenever they want it, and advised the private sector body to redirect their attention.

The Chamber had expressed dissatisfaction with the Central Bank’s handling of the US dollar shortage affecting the country.
