The Coroner Rules Death of Warren Mottley Due To Gross Negligence

The coroner in the Warren Mottley inquest has ruled that his death was due to gross negligence.

That was the finding of Coroner Graveney Bannister who today announced his decision following an inquest into the death of the brother of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.

Coroner Bannister said that there was a failure to diagnose or misdiagnose and a failure to treat Mr. Mottley’s infection.

He stated in his ruling – quote – “It was a breach of duty which gave rise to an obvious and egregious risk of death. The conduct was egregious . . . It was a gross dereliction of care…. it would amount to a criminal act and omission and it was grossly negligent and concerned in the cause of his death.” – unquote.

Warren Mottley died on June 29th last year after undergoing a colonoscopy a week earlier.
