After an extremely slow summer of no cruise ships, port taxi operators are taking a different route to attract cruise tourists when the tourist season begins next month.
The Barbados Tourism Marketing Incorporated has partnered with the Barbados Port Taxi Co-operative Society Incorporated and the Independent Seaport Taxi Union in a new initiative to introduce tourists to historical locations that are not on the normal tourist destination list.
Acting CEO and Product Development Officer of the BTMI, Marsha Alleyne during a press briefing yesterday said that cruise executives want to see more historical sights.
Alleyne says the goal is to improve the knowledge of the taxi and tour operator which will enhance the tourist experience.
