Health Ministry: No Dropping the Guard On COVID

As the government prepares to announce further ease in its covid-19 directives possibly as soon as today, the ministry of health is warning the public not to take the threat of the pandemic lightly.

The warning comes from the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Sonia Browne, who remains concerned, in particular, about the number of deaths among the elderly.

She was speaking as the Massy Foundation donated more than 380 thousand dollars worth of facemasks and respirators to the ministry of health to support its efforts in combating the pandemic.

The government is expected to reduce the covid-19 isolation period and has already announced it is removing the three-foot social distancing requirement but will maintain the indoor facemask mandate.

In thanking the Massy Foundation, Dr. Browne noted Barbados is retaining the mask mandate despite the overseas trends.

Dr. Browne stresses that Barbados remains in a fight against covid.
