Support for NCF’s People’s Choice, Despite Artistes Concerns

Key stakeholders for the National Cultural Foundation’s online People’s Choice competition have voiced their support to  the competition; following concerns raised by some artistes about the voting process after the first round.

Forty artistes have gone through to the second round, and some left out have submitted complaints. However, President of the Entertainment Association of Barbados Rudy Maloney endorses the judging system and thinks it is fair.

“The Entertainment Association of Barbados believes that the judging process for the People’s Choice event was a fair process. Any discrepancies were detected and corrected. We believe that the competition should continue in this manner, people would be unhappy if they do not make it. That is part of life.”

Starcom Network News understands that anomalies were spotted. In some cases significant votes coming in from even countries in East Europe lead to distortions in results.

But Sean Carter, the President of the Barbados Association of Creatives and Artistes,  says after a review of the discrepancies and explanations from the NCF he too is happy with the process.

We were made aware by some of our members of possible discrepancies. Again, we reached out to the NCF. We invited to a meeting where. in that meeting the IT professionals responsible for the for the website, were able to walk us through the back end of the website. they showed us that they were able to see who logs onto the platform. If you just listened to songs if you voted and if you vote where you voted from so to that extent we were quite comfortable with the transparency of the system and the transparency as Senator us by the NCF after the vote validation, we’re comfortable that the top 40 is authentic, and we are comfortable with the transparency of the system.”
