Taxi Men Want Wider Duty Ease

Some of this country’s taxi drivers are calling for a widening of the concessions to the sector to match the tax breaks offered to the wider tourism industry.

President of the Bridgetown Port Taxi Cooperative Society Limited, Adrian Bailey, made the request as he commended Minister of Minister of Energy and Business Development, Kerri Symmonds for the promise of financial help for the taxi operators to help them ride out a difficult summer with no cruise ships calling. Mr. Bailey welcomes that initiative.

But Mr. Bailey also thinks the taxi operators should be granted a longer time period to qualify for duty free vehicles and to be given a wider range of duty free concessions, similar to the hotels.
