Government’s two-week National Clean-up Program is underway with the man in charge, Minister of Housing and Lands, Dr. William Duguid, out in the field this morning to check on the work.
The program was announced yesterday by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley who said 15 hundred people are being hired to assist.
Dr. Duguid says a top priority will be cleaning the streets and government buildings.
Dr. Duguid also commented on the viral video showing trucks racing across the airport tarmac.
He says that’s a deliberate part of the plan to remove the ash.
A private citizen, Carolyn Hollingsworth, is looking to inspire a national community ash clean-up campaign.
