The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) expects job losses when a Jamaican company takes over operations at Caves of Barbados from December 1, 2020, but is appealing for all workers to be given a chance to get their jobs back.

Staff members are to get severance packages between October 31 and November 15 and will have to reapply for their jobs with the new operator’s Chukka Caribbean Adventures.

That company won the bid to operate the St. Thomas tourist attraction.

Acting General Secretary of the NUPW, Delcia Burke tells Starcom Network it’s her understanding that not all employees will be allowed to interview for their old jobs.

Ms. Burke is also concerned about the terms and conditions of some section of workers at the cave.
