A chemical leak at  Springer Memorial school has sent a number of people to the hospital.

Police and three ambulances are on the scene and seven people have reportedly been taken for treatment, complaining of respiratory issues.

The incident is believed to have resulted from a strong odour emitted from a container which contained some chemical.

The incident caused the early closure of school and the cancellation of adult classes at the government hill institution.
