Minister of Education reports a slight decline in student’s 11+ performance

Minister of Education, Santia Bradshaw has reported a slight decline in students’ overall performance in both maths and English in this year’s secondary schools entrance exam, with private schools again generally outperforming the government institutions. But she did note that 35 students scored full marks in mathematics which she described as a fantastic performance.

She also stated that dialogue will commence on reforming the education system. Ms. Bradshaw sees a need for better assessment of students at an earlier stage across a wider range of subjects rather than just in English and maths, along with the introduction of what she called ‘differentiated instruction” to take into account the different needs and abilities of students.
