Police commissioner appeals for witnesses to come forward

Police Commissioner Tyrone Griffith reports that 19 of the 30 murders in Barbados for the year involved firearms and that just this month alone, the country has recorded five murders involving guns.

Speaking at a news conference at the police headquarters today Commissioner Griffith said this represents the continuation of a trend of using guns to settle disputes, but he also stressed that Barbados generally remains a safe place.

The commissioner urged the public to play their part in helping the police solve crime.
