The Transport Minister explains reason for planned bus fare hike

As the estimates debate continues in the House of Assembly, Minister of Transport and Workers, Dr. William Duguid, has been explaining the reasons for the planned hike in bus fares as well as a restructuring of the transport board.
He was responding to a question from the Opposition leader Bishop Joseph Atherly.

Meantime, the United Progressive Party has harshly criticised the planned fare hike.
The UPP’s Public Relations Officer Wayne Griffith says while the move comes as no surprise to the party, it places more pressure on the travelling public.

And the interim President of the Association of Public Transport Operators Morris Lee says he’s adopting a wait and see stance on the fare hike.
