PM Mottley Pays Tribute to Sir Keith Hunte

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley pays tribute to former Public Service Commission Chairman and UWI Principal Sir Keith Hunte who passed away on Thursday at 87.

Describing him as a genuine Barbadian and regional development giant, Ms Mottley stressed that history must record that Sir Keith was nothing less than a titan of university education in the Eastern Caribbean.

She noted that his sound judgment facilitated the growth of the Cave Hill campus, making it the most genuinely regional campus in the UWI network regarding the diversity of student intake.

She also hailed Sir Keith as a mentor, guide, and valuable role model, when she was assigned the role of Minister of Education and Culture as a young Member of Parliament.

Ms Mottley added that Sir Keith stayed well above partisan politics when he was Public Service Commission chairman. She said his death has robbed Barbados of a great mind, but his example ought to live on for generations.
