Principal pleads for return of missing girl/CCB worried about missing girl trend

A secondary school principal has issued an impassioned plea for a missing female student to return home as the Child Care Board expresses concern about the frequency and number of young girls who go missing.

Ken Layne, the Principal of the Darryl Jordan Secondary School in St. Lucy contacted Starcom Network News out of concern about Donishia Thompson, a fourteen-year-old, second-form student of Daryll Jordan who went missing two weeks ago.

Mr. Layne notes Donishia was active on social media shortly after her disappearance and even sent a voice note to relatives a week ago but there has been no further word from her since then.

Meantime, Director of the Child Care Board, Roseanne Richards, is concerned about the trend of young girls going missing and notes it often happens at the start of weekends or holiday periods.

Ms. Richards urges children or families encountering challenges to reach out to the board, other agencies or guidance counsellors for help.
