The Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit is convinced that government’s crime prevention program is producing results despite the recent spike in crime.

Director of the Unit, Cheryl Willoughby tells Starcom Network News that it’s a collaborative approach across various ministries and departments and is also being driven by research.

She also disclosed a special mechanism is being set up to ensure research is easily available to the various agencies.

Mrs. Willoughby says additional research is being planned to more accurately assess the extent and cost of crimes and will include an assessment of gang activity.
