Chamber urges businesses to boost security/Go cashless

The Chamber of Commerce agrees with calls for businesses to increase security in light of a recent spate of armed robberies.

Director of the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit, Cheryl Willoughby has urged that businesses, including banks, improve security.

President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, James Clarke recommends that businesses employ security firms and cash collection services where possible.

He is also encouraging businesses to utilize the cashless system and be vigilant in their operations.

Meantime, President of the Bankers Association of Barbados, Anthony Clerk says the recent robberies should be a concern for all sectors but gives the assurance that banks have adequate security.

He says the association supports the push towards a cashless system but believes the crime situation needs to be addressed.
