A young man had to be rescued by emergency personnel after allegedly jumping into the Constitution River, in Bridgetown.

Station officer with the Barbados Fire Service, Angella Rivera said they responded to a report just after 7 pm yesterday that a man jumped into the water near the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and were able to safely rescue the individual.

He was later taken into police custody.
