Controversial Digicel Tower Under Planning Permission Review

Telecommunications provider, Digicel, is being required to get permission from the Planning and Development Department if a temporary cell tower set up in a St. James community is to remain.

This was revealed by Minister of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology Marsha Caddle, during the launch in Barbados today of the Caribbean Chapter of the International Institute of Communications.

Residents of Olive Lodge Road, have been calling for the tower to be removed, and have indicated they are willing to stage a protest.

Ms. Caddle also stressed the importance of public dialogue on matters related to digital transformation.
