Fairchild Street and surrounding areas have been cordoned off after flames from a manhole set a car ablaze and the authorities try to establish the underground source of the fire.
Divisional Officer of the Barbados Fire Service, Marlon Small said the Fire Service received a call around 5:45 this morning about a vehicle on fire and on arrival discovered an ongoing fire from a manhole.
Divisional Officer Small says the source of the fire is currently being investigated.

Vendors in the area said while they are happy no one was injured as a result of the suspected gas leak, they complained about smelling gas in the area for over two weeks.
