Taxi operators at Grantley Adams International Airport have taken issue with comments by Chairman of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association, Renee Coppin, with one of them demanding she apologize over comments about the fares allegedly being charged customers.
Miss Coppin, speaking at last Friday’s BHTA’s general meeting, said the organization has received complaints of taxi operators charging various rates.
She was concerned that such alleged practices would pose a threat to the visitor experience.
Burt speaking on VOB’s Down to Brasstacks call-in program today, Ronald Moore, a board member of the Airport Taxi Coop challenged the claims and demanded that Ms. Coppin apologize.
But several members of the Brasstacks audience messaged the program to say they had exactly the type of experience complained of by the BHTA chairman.
And, this was backed up by a caller who also spoke of the alleged refusal of some taxi operators to accept customers for short trips.
