Fifteen School Principals Shifted

A dozen schools have new principals and almost twenty deputy principal posts are affected in a sweeping round of reassignments or new appointments for today’s start of the new school year in Barbados.


Starcom Network News understands that some teachers were notified of their promotions late last night and some early this morning.


Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw, confirms the shifts.

President of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Rudy Lovell, while offering congratulations to the appointees, noted the concerns about the amount of notice given in some cases.

Meantime, the Democratic Labour Party’s Assistant General Secretary and former BUT President Pedro Shepherd, has criticized the way the changes were made.


He also believes the shifts will be demoralizing for some of those affected.

In relation to the start of the new school year, the chief Education Officer, Dr. Archer-Bradshaw says the ministry has not received any negative reports so far but that her team will continue to monitor how things are progressing for the rest of the week. She was after touring St. Stephen’s Primary School.
