Police are investigating an alleged shooting at Cavans Lane in the City early this morning.

Starcom Network News understands that a 23 year old man was shot in the lower part of his body.

When we visited the area a bystander who asked not to be identified said the young man was found lying on his stomach near the water in the area of what they called the old wharf just after 7 this morning.

The person told us that the injury did not appear to be life threatening as the injured man was seen speaking with ambulance and police.

He was transported to the Queen Elizabeth hospital by ambulance.
