Training for Over 200 Skilled Workers Starts

Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance Dwight Sutherland says training for over 200 skilled of workers in the construction sector has started.

In April last year the Government introduced the Barbados Construction Gateway Training Initiative in an effort to deal with the shortage of skilled workers in the country.

Speaking at a ceremony to hand over of houses at Farmer’s Phase 2 in St. Thomas yesterday, Mr. Sutherland says the workers are currently enrolled at 3 institutions.

He said at the end of the program they will be engaged in joint venture partnerships to build houses in Barbados
