Government Working With Pinnacle on Feed Prices

The government has intervened in a plan by Pinnacle Feeds to break from the prices compact and increase its prices as Business Development Minister Kerrie Symmonds promises to work with the company to resolve the matter.

Mr. Symmond’s comments come in the wake of Pinnacle, this country’s lone animal feed manufacturer, putting on hold a plan to raise its prices by up to 21 percent which was likely to trigger hikes in the cost of local eggs, poultry, and other meats.

The Minister was speaking after delivering the feature address at the start of the Caricom Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality’s council meeting which is taking place here in Barbados.

Mr. Symmonds indicates that the plan to raise prices took the government by surprise but commits to trying to help the company find a solution to its challenges.
