The transport board is expected to add an additional 10 electric buses to its fleet of 49 by 2023.
This announcement was made by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Works, and Water Resources, Santia Bradshaw at the Transport Board 67th Anniversary Church Service at the Church of the Nazarene, Upper Collymore Rock, St Michael.
She said that these buses would be part of the government’s National Green Economy Policy.
She revealed that the government has already begun the discussion on working with the mass transit authority.
Meanwhile, the Minister said they recently had meetings with the unions to incorporate the United Commercial Autoworks Ltd (UCAL) on the maintenance of the electric buses.
