Townhall Meeting Addresses NIS Concerns

The top brass of the National Insurance Scheme Board heard the concerns of numerous Barbadians when it held its first town hall meeting at the Combermere School last evening.

Among the concerns raised by those who addressed the gathering was the way in which successive governments have used the funds of the National Insurance Scheme over the years.

Chief Executive Officer of the NIS, Kim Tudor responded to the concerns about deceased people receiving cheques from NIS.

Also speaking during the town hall meeting Independent Actuary Derek Osbourne said he wants the government to encourage employers who owe the NIS contributions to pay up.
