The Barbados Union of Teachers is appalled by a decision by the Ministry of Education to place primary and secondary school teachers and Principals who recently applied for the posts, on contracts.
Speaking with Starcom Network News today President of the BUT, Rudy Lovell says the organization was never consulted on the plan.
They believe that the unilateral change away from the existing terms and conditions of service for teachers can impact an individual’s ability to get loans or mortgages as they will have no security of tenure.
Mr. Lovell is calling on the Ministry of Education to meet with the union on the matter
