PSV Owners Call for Ease on Cost of Fuel

PSV Owners Call for Ease on Cost of Fuel

The Alliance Owners of Public Transport is calling on the government to utilize domestic taxation policies at its disposal to provide ease on the cost of petrol which increased again.

Communications, Information, and Marketing Officer, of the organization, Mark Haynes says the increase in gas is negatively impacting the financial gains of the PSV sector.

His statement came after the prices of petroleum products were adjusted upward for the month of August effective Sunday, August 7.

The price of gasoline is now $4.83 per litre, an increase of 11 cents, while diesel went up by 20 cents to $4.28.

The government had announced the capping of the Value Added Tax on gasoline and diesel in this year’s Budget and Financial Proposal in an effort to shield consumers from the full increase of refined petroleum products.

Mr. Haynes suggested other measures that could be taken to provide ease.
