Some residents of Haynesville St. James are shaken following a shooting in the area last night.

The Barbados Police Service reported that officers who were on patrol in the area dealing with another matter heard three loud explosions. They took cover and called for assistance and later learnt that two men were shooting at each other. The men escaped and there appeared to be no injuries.

A female resident from the area recounted the event of the night, “I stand from out here and I hear the three gunshots but I was inside my home so I just slammed my window shot and stop inside. It getting out of hand real serious because in the night that had the shooting down here, my daughter had just left here. I don’t think she did get to the shop.  She didn’t get around to the corner properly and my heart sing cause that was ridiculous as a mother you know you can’t got your children outside playing freely because every minute is some sort of shooting.”

Another man from the resident expressed his concern, “We need something to be looked in by the authority, too much guns from the street. I running how the guns getting in Barbados and the law ain’t doing nothing bout it,”

Yet another man had this to say, “its really getting out of hand, it really out of hand, brother hating brother, brother killing brother.
