Barbados to be Regional Air Hub

Government has announced plans to create a regional air travel hub that will be based in Barbados.

Speaking at a Tourism Town Hall meeting at the Hilton Hotel this morning, Minister of Tourism and International Transport Senator Lisa Cummins said the initiative will bring an end to the long standing challenge of regional air travel.

It will use as its model Singapore Airlines which dominates the Asian regional market.

Senator Cummins says regional carriers like Caribbean Airlines and the Antigua-based LIAT can learn from Singapore Airlines.

She says the hub will provide various services to travelers
